JL offers two different kinds of trainee programmes - one within international shipping and one within finance & accounting. For further information, please see below.

Shipping trainee programme

JL’s trainee programme provides a knowledge base for coming generations of professional shipping staff in operations and chartering, many of whom have the potential to become part of key management. It consists of an intensive two-year education, which focuses on development of both professional and personal abilities and competencies. The programme is a combination of on-the-job training in various business areas and studies (HD, part 1) at CBS and shipping-related subjects at Esbjerg Business College as well as internal courses at JL. A visit to one of JL’s overseas offices is part of the trainee programme.

Admission requirements – shipping trainees

You have completed grammar school (studentereksamen) combined with HHX-“fagpakke” or the 3-year HHX or similar examination. You have mathematics at B-level, English at A-level, and good marks in economics.

Finance & accounting trainee programme

In addition to the shipping trainee programme, JL also offers a two-year trainee programme within finance and accounting. We focus on development of both professional and personal abilities and competencies. The programme is a combination of theoretical studies at Niels Brock Copenhagen Business College and internal courses at JL. The practical part of the programme includes on-the-job training in the control and accounting departments of two of our business areas. A visit to one of JL’s overseas offices is part of the trainee programme.

Admission requirements – finance & accounting trainees

You have completed grammar school (studentereksamen) combined with HHX-“fagpakke” or the 3-year HHX or similar examination. You have good marks in economics, mathematics at B-level, and a sound working knowledge of English.
