Lauritzen Bulkers hosts Shanghai reception and introduces new General Manager in China
Last week, Lauritzen Bulkers’ Shanghai office hosted a well-attended reception, where members of the maritime community attended and Lauritzen Bulkers’ new General Manager, Anders Johannsen had the opportunity to meet with our Chinese business partners.
Mr. Peter Borup, President of Lauritzen Bulkers welcomed the guests and emphasised the importance of building and maintaining strong relations to Chinese business partners. "We have built ships at Chinese shipyards for quite some time now and we have developed strong relations with our Chinese clients” Mr. Borup said in his welcoming speech and added “We hope to grow these relations even stronger as China takes more and more control of the shipping element of its bulk imports in the years to come.” The reception provided ample opportunity for representatives from J. Lauritzen's offices in Shanghai, Singapore and Copenhagen to connect with its Chinese business partners.
After the reception Mr. Borup added “It has been great spending time with our Chinese business friends and having discussions on how we all see the current challenges and opportunities in the market. Today, our activities in Shanghai remain modest. This in no way means that we have modest ambitions for the role we can play in China and how we develop our bulk activities going forward.”

Peter Borup also used the opportunity to present Mr. Anders Johannsen, Lauritzen Bulkers’ new General Manager in China. Mr. Johannsen transferred to his new position in January 2015 and comes from a position as Chartering Manager in Singapore. He brings strong knowledge of the Asian markets as he has lived in Singapore and Shanghai for the last ten years, employed in different positions within shipping before he joined J. Lauritzen in 2012.
